About Me

Hi! I’m Sarah Jane, and if there’s one thing I’ve done my whole life, it’s sew. From making clothes out of bedsheets as a kid to turning thrifted pieces into wearable art, my sewing machine has always been my favorite creative outlet.

I’ve been on a bit of an entrepreneurial adventure over the years — from crocheting bralettes in college, to starting a short-lived (but fun!) family thrifting business called NHP Threads. But I kept asking myself: How can I keep doing what I love AND turn it into something sustainable? The answer was right in front of me: my sewing room.

So, one summer, I made a simple video asking friends and family to send me their alterations. The response was amazing — and I’ve been steadily stitching ever since! Word of mouth has carried me this far (thanks to my incredible people), but now it’s time to build something more stable. That’s why Sarah Jane Alteration was born.

But here’s the real “why”: the sewing itself.

In the past, I’d rush through personal projects — skipping ironing, skipping the double-checks, definitely not measuring twice. But once people started trusting me with their clothing — wedding gowns, favorite jeans, vintage finds — it pushed me to raise the bar. Now? I’m all about professional finishes. Clean hems. Precise seams. Yes, even mastering the blind hem (finally!). And don't get me started on my iron — it’s basically my sidekick.

From quick fixes and formalwear alterations to curtains and creative challenges, I take pride in every stitch. Sewing has always brought me joy — but sewing for you has made me better. So send your pieces my way, and let’s bring them back to life — beautifully, professionally, and with a whole lot of love.
